FLOWERS in fields, in still life, on trees…this gallery is about flowers and the promise of life and death. Painting flowers is a tonic for tough times, whether in the studio, as a still life or in the meadows, it is a reflective and challenging thing to paint. I am always torn when painting flowers, sorrow and regret, gratitude and joy and so on. Maybe this is why artists have been painting flowers for centuries, it is a complex and contemplative practice.
